Department of Research & Programmes

Research is not the end in looking into a particular issue but the beginning by involving stakeholders and decision makers to commit appropriate actions to yield a positive impact on society.  We at IRESCO conduct research, specifically socio-behavioural research and develop, organise and control programmes/projects.  This is what IRESCO does; we look into a problem and work how to deal with it.

This department focuses predominately on four fields including:

  • Education

  • Environment

  • Health

  • Social Welfare

The department promotes effective research that is based on prioritising development initiatives.  This allows the department to generate and support the emergence of complementary research that is derived from initial studies.  The main activities carried out by the department include:

  • Development and submission of research and intervention programme/project proposals

  • Scientific Review of Projects

  • Perform qualitative and quantitative studies

  • Implementation of intervention programmes/ projects

  • Data management and analysis

  • Writing of Research Reports

  • Writing of intervention programme/ project reports

  • Organise and control appropriate internal and external human resources

  • Liaise with donors and stakeholders

  • Circulation of reports via Sponsors, appropriate Ministries, IRESCO library and website

  • Publications via writing of abstracts, articles, booklets and other documents

  • Distribution of publications via national and international conferences, libraries, journals, workshops and discussion groups

There are also specific activities undertaken in the field of Research and the field of Program Management.  These are:

Research

Program Management

Training of students and researchers

Follow-up and evaluation of projects

Support other NGO’s in developing and conducting intervention programmes/ projects

The department also acts as the organisation’s focal point for Family Health International, the Ministry of Public Health and various Institutes of Research.
